Mini info drop.  
On Dio and his vanship's profiles from the BD booklets (that a super mega awesome anon scanned ;3; ♥) Also added the vanship stuff to the vanship info page. o/

Also Alison and the scanner are da best for clearing up a few of the lines since I was like WTF DOES THIS EVEN MEAN at.

He is the captain of the Silvius' Vanship Combat Team, but due to the fact that he strongly dislikes being in a formal chain of command, he left the ship to live a carefree life wandering the planet. Originally, Dio was a Principal (#2 position) of the Guild, and a candidate to become Maestro (#1 position), but has abandoned that status.

He has an outstanding talent as a vanship pilot, a clear intellect, and a mastering of martial arts. He loves interesting things, and though he seems as if he only has his own interests in mind, he easily drops them for the sake of those he needs to protect.

Dio's unit, built from junk parts of other vanships. In addition to an Anatoray Claudia unit, it has an electro-heat formula unit. Although the outer-body is wooden, it has a purely metal frame, and the timber is polished to reduce air resistance and increase its speed. On top of the electric power the Sky Pirates use, the Anatoray internal combustion engine is its main source of power.

The rear is equipped with a very long range, large fuel tank ballast. Additionally, because Dio was very particular about thorough maneuverability and is extremely skilled in the area, and because it is a peaky engine, few other than Dio are capable of piloting it without a great deal of difficultly.

Sorry if the scan was hard to read... this is what you could not translate:

航続距離 = operational range, cruising range
巡行 = patrol
海里 = Nautical Mile (NM) (1 NM = 6,076 ft = 1,852 m)
分 = counter for minutes

Armament: 2 small-size harpoons

武装 = armament
小型銛 = small-size harpoon
基 = counter for harpoons

As for the power, the official unit of measurement is the Claudia Power, CP (クラウディア力). So the LE world uses the CP in the same way we use the Horsepower (hp).

Well, if you want to compare Dio's vanship with Dyan's interceptor:

Omg haha thank you so much for that! Even with ALL OF THE SQUINTING I couldn't quite make out the really kanji-heavy ones (and lucked out with the stuff I did get). MY ANONY SAVIOR. '-' But lol yeah I would have never been able to make out the stuff for NM and the whole Operational Range section I just went LOL WAT OH NO NEXT at. So thank you!

And gosh yes I LOVE THE FUTHORK WITH THE GLACIES FIGHTERS SO MUCH. And just the way they have them all set up. Also man the interceptors are beasts too.

XD I know... I have to squint my eyes on the original booklets too, because they are so small. Anyway, Dio is such a badass character, he even built his own vanship using junk parts... and by far it's the best vanship ever!

I hope in the Travellers manga they will give him some space too. I do wonder how he was rescued from the Grand Stream by Lucciola's friends and if he now comes to save the day for Claus & Lavie. That would be a cool way to bridge the two series.

I'm actually picking up the newest chapter of Travelers today (they didn't have the magazine in stock yesterday boo!) since I've offered to do the raw scanning for the scanlation group doing it for the last few chapters. It is likely that the manga is ending with this chapter though, sadly! We'll see 100% when I get that, but the last chapter ended with a "conclusion next month" note (though I still pray they mean battle conclusion and not manga! I will keep dreaming for the next few hours until I get it XD)

I really wish we had scans of the Aerial Log book interviews because in those interviews they say that Dio was rescued in the Grand Stream by a Guild ship. I've see a LOT of talk on places like 2ch that say pretty assuredly that it was Apis and Coccinella that saved him, but I'm not sure they're assuming so or if it's confirmed in the novels (or even in the Aerial Log, that's why I wish there were scans!). I actually have the first series novels coming to me and I'm slowly working on doing all of the Dio parts in the Fam novels (though it's mega slow and when I get the first series novels I am going to work on Dio parts there instead). The first thing I'm going to do when I get those novels is skim around and try to find anything that might elaborate better on Dio's ending.

But gosh in Travelers I was hoping for a whole Dio arc of him waking up and recovering and using his Guild position to end up saving them in the end and confronting the Earth Guild. Travelers is the only ongoing new canon we have, so if it ends I'll be sad that there probably won't be much more! Except for artbooks that I hope give us information like the Aerial Log and other ones.

Indeed, I am looking forward to see the new chapter!! Well, I saw that "conclusion" thing in the last release but I do hope they don't stop this manga because there so much to be told on Last Exile.

Well, I don't have the Aerial Log either. However, the closest thing I could find on Dio's rescue is in "Chronicles" (the book that comes with the BDs of the first season) on page 161, where it tells of the "race/battle" between Claus and Dio in the last episode. Just look at the last line: it has Coccinella-tachi (コキネラ達) in it. If you need this page I can upload it somewhere :D

だが、飛び立ったアル達の前に、最後の障害として現れたディーオ。彼は、混乱した記憶のまま襲いくる。しかし、ふとしたきっかけでその記憶は、最も夢中になった時の記憶に繋がっていく。そして、ホライゾン･ケイブのレースを追体験する事で、徐々に彼の記憶は蘇る。レースに勝利したと思い込んだ瞬間、彼は正気に戻り、後部座席にいる筈のルシオラに語りかける。だが、現実はあまりにも哀しく、当然そこにルシオラの姿はない。

ONLY FOR THE LAST LIKE 3 CHAPTERS every time a raw provider need was announced I was like OH NO OH NO I'LL DO IT IF NOBODY ELSE DOES I want to read the rest of thiiiiiiiiis.

And oh! I didn't catch that part in the Chronicles books (and going to see which page it was on, I now see why since I didn't take a closer look at that stuff. XD) I just got the novels today so I'm gonna check to see if there's something in there, too, but that they reference the others implies enough, I think!

Also oh god that paragraph you posted oh nooooo sadness Dio baby. ;;

... so I managed to have a look at the Aerial Log and somehow scanned a page that might be of interest. Look at the column on the right, just below the title. I know it's not the best scan ever and it is hard to read in some parts but that's the best I could do :D
... and Coccinella is there. and Lucciola too. I hope it's what you were looking for.

And cannot wait for the new booklet scans! (as I wait for the BD to get on the 'net since I won't be able to afford the actual copies for while, sob I wish LE was a fandom people got things like rips out SUPER FAST FOR, but alas a few day's wait isn't bad >D)
